Environmental
With today’s increased interest in “going green,” businesses are realizing what we’ve known for more than half a century – it’s good to protect the environment.
For more than 50 years, World Dryer has been helping public and private facilities ease their burden on the environment with economical and efficient dryers that save money while they protect trees, reduce landfill waste and help preserve valuable water supplies and other natural resources.
Today, our dryers help energy-conscious businesses and other public and private institutions qualify for valuable LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits while showing their customers, visitors and employees that the environment matters.
Consider all the ways dryers help reduce waste:
- The production of paper towels is twice as energy-intensive as the use of hand dryers, and it creates more greenhouse gasses (over its lifetime, one hand dryer will produce 1.6 tons of carbon dioxide, vs. the 4.6 tons of carbon dioxide that will be produced manufacturing the towels it replaces)
- It takes more energy to produce two paper towels than it does to run a typical high-speed hand dryer cycle
- Paper towels can be made from recycled paper, but they can’t be recycled themselves, creating millions of cubic feet of waste in landfills
- Producing one ton of recycled paper takes 7,000 gallons of water and 158 million BTUs of energy – and 60 pounds of pollutants will go into the air
- A typical school using 30 hand dryers will save 17 trees’ worth of paper towels per year
Hand dryers make sense, and it’s not just us saying so. The U.S. Postal Service identified hand dryers as the single most cost- and waste-reduction alternative in its own Pollution Prevention Study. In addition, several independent case studies have shown dryers to be the sensible environmental and economic choice.
